Tell reads the accounts, posts and contracts on your X timeline so it can label them. To do that it sends what is on your screen to our API and gets labels back. This page says exactly what that involves.
The Short Version
- We never collect your direct messages, bookmarks, notifications, passwords or wallet.
- Nothing about your own account is ever sent: not your posts, not replies to you, not posts that mention you.
- We do not sell data and we do not run ads. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
- One switch in the extension turns off sharing of the public posts you scroll past.
The Extension
It runs only on x.com and twitter.com. It asks the browser for one permission, storage, plus access to those two sites and to our API.
Labels. To label a post, the extension sends it to our API: the author's public handle and id, the text, links and contract addresses. The request carries no account, login or device identifier.
Sharing. With the sharing switch on, which is the default, the public posts and accounts you scroll past are kept so checks get better for everyone. When you open the Following page of an account on our smart money list, that public list is kept too. With the switch off, posts are still sent to get their labels but nothing is stored. The extension leaves out:
- your own profile, your posts, replies to you and posts that mention you;
- direct messages, bookmarks, notifications and settings;
- everything, if it cannot tell which account is yours.
On your device. Your settings, today's counts and the list of recently flagged posts stay in your browser and are never uploaded. Removing the extension deletes them.
This Website
Live check. When you look up an account or a post, our server fetches the public X data for it through FxTwitter and labels it. We keep no record of who looked up what.
Waitlist. If you leave your email we store it with the date, the country your connection comes from, and a one-way hash of your IP address, used only to stop spam signups. We use your email only to tell you about Tell.
Cookies and tracking. None. Fonts and images are served from this site.
Who Else Sees It
Our hosting provider runs the site and the API. FxTwitter receives only the public handle or post you look up in the live check. Prices come from public market data and blockchain nodes, which never receive anything about you. We will disclose data only if the law requires it.
Keeping and Deleting Data
Waitlist emails are kept until you ask us to remove them. Public X data and labels are kept as long as they are useful for flagging accounts and coins. To see, correct or delete data about you, or to ask for a label on your account to be reviewed, contact us. Corrections and removals are free.
Children and Changes
Tell is not meant for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and big changes are announced.
